new wardens, wow !

we are regulars to this site, it suits us. I read the recent reviews before we visited this year and I thought that they were a bit over the top, but no, we always thought the site was up to CMC standard but now it is the cleanest site we have been on. The auxillary toilets were never opened when cleaning the main block, but they are now. The only complaint I have with the site is the rubbish bins placed at the entrance , but they said that they would put forward my suggestions, however, this seems to be the way that the CMC are going now. As to the site, it's flat , it can flood but it drains quickly, there is a local railway that passes the site, make sure the CMC road directions are followed. It has a gate to some playing fields which is also a short cut to Tesco. Gowerton is a large village , Gorseinon is the next town for supermarkets. Of course there is the Gower and Swansea and plenty of things to see and do further afield.

Wonderful welcome

We were so happy to receive such a warm friendly and welcome to the site from a warden who really wanted to help us to to enjoy our stay and be near to our our friends. The warden even popped our gate keys over to us as we were eating our lunch. Well above and beyond her job description. The site was immaculate and the short grass was helpful when walking across the lawns covered in dew. The un-mown borders helped to encourage wildlife and the robin was so charming as it sat on our guy lines and sang to us all. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so memorable. I recommend the Contented Sole if you fancy take away fish and chips.

So glad we stayed there!

We chose Gowerton site, initially, for its location - easy to get to and from the road network for south Wales, and also the Gower Peninsula. However, we were delighted with it as a site, simply to spend the day there. It was really lovely, well laid out, very clean, and had an open feel but with different sections. Even though it got busy, towards the weekend, it never felt crowded. Bonuses - lovely little town of Gowerton - Station 86 has the best breakfasts; the Pizza Ria on Thursday (they did a Gluten free Pizza); easy access to Llanelli, the Mumbles, and the Botanic Gardens. The wardens were helpful and friendly, and overall, we would recommend it either as a stay-location, or as a base to explore. The CMC book mentions train noise, but it was very minimal, and not constant; if that worries you, stay on the site away from the line, we could hardly hear it there. It's a great place to stay!

Wonderful wardens

Very warm welcome from Nicky. We had a glorious week of weather marred only by my husband being ill and needing to go to hospital to see a GP. Nicky and Mike could not have been more helpful and supportive. Thank you. We ended up spending a lot of time on site and less time exploring the area than we would have liked. We had a peaceful quiet break in very pleasant surroundings.

Wonderful welcome

Very handy site being within 40 minutes from home.I have been here on many occasions and found it convenient for access to the Gower peninsula and also local shops.and pubs within walking distance. Nicely layer out with both sheltered and sunny spacious pitches. What now makes this site have the X factor are the new wardens. We were greeted with a smile( sadly not always the case) and a informative briefing.During our stay we were helped in a friendly manner as to the location of local cycle paths, which are wonderful. This really made our short stay special. Thanks to Mike and Nicky. Wardens take note, you really can make a difference with a smile

Lovely little gem

What a warm friendly welcome we received when we arrived at this lovely well located site in the heart of the Gower. The site is beautifully looked after by a team of friendly wardens who always have time for a pleasant greeting or a quick chat. Gowerton has several handy local shops including a baker and butcher. The site is well positioned to explore all the Gower has to offer. We liked it so much we are staying 5 more nights.

Pleasant site with friendly wardens

This site is well situated for visiting the delights of the Gower, though Gowerton itself is not particularly inspiring. We found a wonderful pub, serving good food, in nearby Three Crosses, 'The Poundffald' - highly recommended. Our last day was marred by a private party just outside the site boundary, playing outrageously loud '80s music well into the evening, until the police arrived. We moved our caravan, with the support of the wardens, to the opposite end of the site for the sake of our sanity, and the wardens phoned us the next day to let us know that they had called the police themselves following our complaint. All in all, a friendly, smaller-scale site with lots to recommend it, especially the welcoming and helpful wardens.

An 'okay' site

We stayed here for 2 nights on our 'tour of Wales' and received a warm and friendly welcome from the warden, who was helpful and pleasant. We requested two adjacent pitches so that we could camp with our friends and he kindly directed us to a number of apparently vacant ones. Unfortunately, without the knowledge of the warden it seemed, a number of nicely positioned pitches appeared to have been reserved using pitch markers stating 'in use' which prevented us from using them. Despite this, they remained vacant for the entire time of our stay. This was somewhat frustrating and annoying and IMO ought to be investigated by the Club. The site is pleasant and open with plenty of hard-standings (which was essential for us due to some VERY heavy rain). Unfortunately, it is quite near a busy main road and a railway line which meant we were frequently troubled by traffic noise of one sort or another. The Toilet block/facilities are well appointed and clean but there are insufficient numbers of toilet stalls and showers for a site of this size. I would imagine there are long queues at the busier times of the year, so best to avoid unless you have on-board facilities. Covid regulations are in force but are not so 'in your face' as to make you feel uncomfortable (unlike some other Welsh sites we have visited recently). Unfortunately, the local interpretation of the rules has resulted in the closure of all of the rubbish bins at the service points around the site, necessitating a long walk to the reception area to dispose of your rubbish. We have not seen this anywhere else in Wales and I really don't think it should be happening.

Jewel in the crown

Well run site by wardens who do everything to make your stay special. Location is at The Gateway to Gower. Would be used more if open longer because Gower is used 12 months of the year. Well done Gowerton.
